LOCKS

Most Samsonite suitcases are equipped with high-quality integrated locks, including TSA-approved combination locks, designed to keep your belongings secure throughout your journey. These locks are simple to use and provide added peace of mind, particularly when travelling internationally or checking in your luggage.
In this section, you will find helpful guidance on how to set or reset your lock combination, as well as what to do if you have forgotten your code. Whether you are using your suitcase for the first time or need assistance with a lock-related issue, our step-by-step support will help you get your lock functioning correctly and securely.
WHAT IS A TSA LOCK?

A TSA lock is a specially designed luggage lock that allows airport security authorities to open and inspect your suitcase without damaging the lock or the luggage. TSA stands for the Transportation Security Administration, the agency responsible for screening passengers and checked baggage at airports.

During your journey, your suitcase may be selected for a routine security inspection. If it is secured with a non-TSA-approved lock, airport security may need to cut or remove the lock to inspect the contents. A TSA-approved lock can be opened using a secure master key held by authorised security personnel, allowing your luggage to be inspected and then relocked without damage.

You can identify a TSA-approved lock by the red diamond logo, which indicates that the lock is compatible with the TSA master key system.

Choosing a Samsonite suitcase with an integrated TSA lock provides added security, greater convenience during international travel, and peace of mind when checking in your luggage.

HOW CAN I RESET THE TSA LOCK?

If you have forgotten the combination for your Samsonite TSA lock, don’t worry — there are several ways to regain access to your suitcase.

1. Try the default factory code

  • All Samsonite TSA combination locks are set to 0-0-0 when they leave the factory. If the combination has never been changed, this code should open the lock.

2. Visit an authorised Samsonite dealer

  • Take your suitcase to an authorised Samsonite store or dealer, where trained staff can assist in unlocking the lock and help you set a new combination. This is usually the quickest and easiest solution.

3. Contact our Customer Care team

  • If you are unable to visit a Samsonite dealer, please contact our Customer Care team at customercare@vfgroup.mt. We will guide you through the available options and advise you on the next steps, which may include inspection, repair, or lock replacement if necessary.

For warranty-related assistance, please keep your proof of purchase available when contacting us.

For security reasons, Samsonite cannot retrieve or provide a forgotten lock combination. We recommend storing your chosen code in a safe place once it has been reset.

WHERE IS THE KEY FOR MY TSA LOCK?

There is no key supplied for your TSA lock. The keyhole you see is for TSA or customs agents only, so they can open and relock your luggage during security inspections without damaging your suitcase.

Your lock is designed to be used with a personal combination, not a key. Simply follow the lock instructions to set your own code. Once set, your belongings stay secure while still allowing authorised security staff to inspect your luggage when required.

HOW DO I SET A CODE FOR MY TSA LOCK

Setting the code on your lock is very easy. The item is set to 0-0-0 at the factory, but you can choose your own 3 digits which you can easily recall (birthday, address, etc.). The lock may differ depending on the type of item you have, but usually the steps to set the code on your lock are very similar for every item.

  1. Open your suitcase by sliding or pushing the TSA button. Enclosed in your item you will find locking instructions. Alternatively please check our instruction videos or visit Support & Go for PDF's and videos that are specifically for your product.

  2. If there is a small pinpoint button on the lock, push it in with a pen. If there is no such button, push and hold the button to open your suitcase towards the dials.

  3. Rotate the dials to your preferred code.

  4. If your suitcase has the pinpoint button, you can confirm your code by pushing or sliding the button to open your suitcase. If there was no pinpoint button, release the button that you were holding.

  5. Your combination is now set! For your peace of mind, we advice to take a picture of your code set.
